Trumpet: Fritz Wunderlich
A unique collection of popular German songs, performed by Fritz Wunderlich in the 1950s and 1960s.
The accompanying booklet provides interesting details and rare photos provided by Fritz Wunderlich’s daughter, Barbara Wunderlich.
Includes the sound engineers' account of the complete remastering process of the original Wunderlich tapes.
The outstanding remastering of those tapes makes Fritz Wunderlich’s voice sound fresh and radiant.
This is the latest instalment in the 10-volume SWR Wunderlich series, covering all aspects of his repertoire, from popular songs to operettas, older music to 20th-century works.
It's well known that Fritz Wunderlich was an exceptional singer, yet it never fails to surprise when hearing him singing works from different genres, and discovering how he developed from his early performances in 1953 to the opera arias he preferred later in his career.
This first double-CD in our ten-volume series contains popular German songs that Fritz Wunderlich performed and broadcast prolifically at the beginning of his career, returning to them in the 1960s. Among them are international hits such as Granada and Tiritomba.
In the accompanying booklet, Barbara Wunderlich, daughter of the famous singer, gives an account of her father's early studies and the launch of his career.
Both this release and all future volumes of the SWR Fritz Wunderlich series contain recordings that Fritz Wunderlich made for the company from which SWR grew. They are available in this compilation only on this double-CD, and several songs are available only on these SWR recordings, namely Tiritomba, Granada, Estrellita, Melodia con passione and Deine Liebe ist mein ganzes Leben.
