PIANO WORKS
Artem Yasynskyy, Piano
"This is my first recording, and working towards it has been a source of enormous gratification to me. Hofmann, who probably knew the piano better than anybody else, wrote magnificently for the instrument. His piano works are a thrilling mixture of styles, marking the composer’s personal and musical development. While largely confining himself to classical structures, Hofmann’s music nevertheless always comes directly from the heart. He explores the huge possibilities for sonority to the fullest and develops a palette unique to himself." - Artem Yasynskyy

About this Recording
Józef Kazimierz Hofmann was one of the greatest Romantic virtuosi of his age, a towering technician and a poet of the keyboard. He also wrote extensively for the piano, crafting a richly contrasted set of Charakterskizzen, Op. 40, a Sonata in F major, Op. 21 that reveals the influence of Schumann, and a finely wrought Theme with Variations and Fugue, Op.14. Artem Yasynskyy won the Hofmann Prize at the First German Piano Competition of Polish Music in Hamburg in 2013.
