Funded by the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste and Udine and the Udine Council, and supported by the Ministry of Cultural Activities, the Symphony Orchestra of Friuli Venezia Giulia serves to promote the music of the region in Italy and in Europe. The orchestra made its début at the 2000 Mittelfest, then appearing at the Vienna Musikverein and the Venice Biennale. It has collaborated with conductors including Renzetti, Rath, Pehlivanian, Hamel, Rojatti, Schmoehe, Paroni, Kocsár, Gessi, Ceccherini, Zanettovich, Medeossi, Sugiyama, Ban, Lü Jia, Rophè, Lonquich, and Guth and with soloists including Rossi, Lortie, the Jess Trio Wien, Lytting, Teresa Berganza, Loguercio, Damarquette, Gvazava, Latry, Quarta, Braconi, Manara, François- Joël Thiollier, Rizzi, Roberto Fabbriciani, and Meloni.
