
Jonathan Vaughn
Jonathan Vaughn is Assistant Organist at Wells Cathedral, a post he took up in September 2007. After a gap year as Organ Scholar at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, he spent four years as Organ Scholar and later Assistant Organist at St John’s College, Cambridge, while studying the organ with Dame Gillian Weir. Performances during his time at St John’s included critically acclaimed recordings of Lennox Berkeley and Edward Elgar for the Naxos English Choral Music series.
He also served as a conductor, directing the St John’s Singers, and later directing the Cambridge University Musical Society’s second and wind orchestras. After leaving Cambridge he spent three years as Assistant Director of Music at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, where he was also responsible for the Cathedral’s Arts programme and Director of the St Edmundsbury Singers. While at St Edmundsbury, he was also Musical Director of the Phoenix Singers, Framlingham. His other recital venues have included Westminster Abbey, Carlisle and Birmingham Cathedrals and the Battle Festival.
