
Capilla Peñaflorida
The Capilla Peñaflorida was established in 1985 by Jon Bagüés, coinciding with the bicentenary of the death of Xavier María de Munibe, Conde de Peñaflorida, an important figure in the musical Enlightenment in the Basque Country. The ensemble, under its first director, José Rada, specialised in early music. The Capilla has taken part in important festivals in various musical centres in Spain and aborad, notably in Utrecht, Flanders, Italy and Paris. There has been collaboration with musicians and ensembles including James Bowman, Banchetto Musicale, Les Saqueboutiers de Toulouse, Eduardo López Banzo and Christophe Coin. Stage presentations include The Enlightenment in the Basque Country and Pergolesi’s Flaminio and La serva padrona. Artistic and musical direction of the Capilla is shared between Jon Bagüés and Josep Cabré.
