Since its founding in 2001 by hornist Radek Baborák, the Baborák Ensemble has regularly performed in concerts and at festivals in Europe and Japan and made recordings for the labels Exton, Supraphon and Animal Music.
Its members are successful soloists, international competition winners and chamber musicians of the younger generation – violinists Milan Al-Ashhab and Martina Bačová, violist Karel Untermüller, cellist Hana Baboráková and hornist Radek Baborák.
The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from Baroque, Classic and Romantic compositions to pieces from the 20th century, with special emphasis on the use of the French horn, and includes a number of arrangements and compositions dedicated to the ensemble. In its concerts, the ensemble likes to surprise audiences with unexpected and often startling combinations of sounds and to venture into other genres, such as jazz, swing, dance, film, ethnic and oriental music.
It has performed at renowned concert halls such as the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, Bozar in Brussels, the Prague Spring Festival, the Dvořák Festival in Prague and the Smetana Festival in Litomyšl.
The Baborák Ensemble first appeared at the Mozart Week in 2023.
