Born in Granada in 1975, David Martinez began his first music lessons with his father at the age of seven, and continued studies at the Conservatory of Music in Granada under Carmelo Martinez. After graduating, he went on to study in masterclasses at the Mozarteum in Vienna and the Hochschule für Musik in Munich under the tutelage of Eliot Fisk and Joaquin Clerch.

He has won prizes in numerous international competitions including first prizes in the following competitions: Vélez Málaga (1997), ‘Andrés Segovia’ de Linares (1997), Villa de Puente Genil (2000), Ciudad de Coria (2001), Francisco Tárrega, Benicásim (2004).

David Martinez has given concerts throughout his home country of Spain and toured in Germany, Egypt, Turkey and the United States, as well performing on national radio and television broadcasts in those countries.

He currently has a teaching position at the Conservatory of Music of Granada.
